Senator Jack Donahue has been honored with the NFIB "Guardian of Small Business" award for his efforts in the Louisiana state legislature during the 2010 regular session. The award is given annually to only one lawmaker from each chamber who displays courage and determination to to speak-out and promote all small businesses. In the awarding letter addressed to Senator Donahue it states, "Your leadership and consistent voting record demonstrated the strongest voice for Main Street Louisiana. You have maintained a 100 percent voting record with NFIB since your election to the Senate. You are a member of a very exclusive club where only three of 39 senators had a 100% voting record." Small businesses make up 98% of Louisiana's businesses and employ 55% of the state's workforce.
