|Senator Jack Donahue Newsletter - Many Local Non-Profits At Risk|
|Friday, October 08 2010 - 8:56 am|
The Department of Revenue has been attempting to alert thousands of community-based nonprofit organizations in Louisiana that are at risk of losing their tax-exempt status due to a tax law change that occurred in 2006. A list of the organizations that are at risk is posted at www.IRS.gov along with instructions on how to comply with the new law. To preserve their exempt status the IRS has offered a one-time relief program. The deadline for compliance is October 15! Knowing how involved each of you are in our community, I am forwarding this information. If you know any of these organizations, please alert them to the impending deadline.
